Dealing With The Ups And Downs As A Ketamine Clinic Owner

Starting a business is hard. Starting a business without prior experience or training is even harder. Working night shifts or long hours at the hospital plus juggling starting a business can seem impossible. BUT, this challenging journey you are considering is something many medical professionals like you have done.

We’ve done it, two physicians tired of traditional medicine, perhaps just like you, burnt out and frustrated with the system and ready to strike out on our own. If we can do it, so can you! Yes, we have a course that has a detailed roadmap of what to do, exactly how to go about starting your private practice. We even hold your hand along the way. Easy right? Not really!

Simple, yes, because we lay out the sequence of what to do in what order, leaving no detail out. But it's not easy. That's due to the challenges you will inevitably be facing. Challenges both external (like dealing with ketamine shortages or finalizing the lease for your clinic taking longer than you want) and internal (like facing self-doubt or feeling unmotivated) that you will need to face head on.

Sometimes, it feels like when things are going really bad, it’s going to be that way forever. Other times, when things are great, we don't want it to end and want it to continue for as long as possible. Reflecting on the challenges we have faced, plus that of the students of our course, we were reminded of a story which we will be sharing with you in this blog.

Once, there was a king who sought wisdom and was told that a wise old man had the answers.

Storytime: Advice From A Wise Old Man

Once upon a time, there was a king who sought wisdom. He went through his entire kingdom, searching for any piece of wisdom that he could find, but alas he could not find it.

Eventually, he heard of an old wise man who lived deep in the caves who was said to have found the secret to wisdom. He had his men go out, find this wise man and bring him to his court.

Once the old man arrived, the king asked him, "Can you give me the secret to your wisdom?" The old man replied, "Yes it's possible but it's going to take some time." Several weeks later, the old wise man returned with a small box. The king was honestly a bit disappointed but he opened up the small box and inside of that box he found a ring.

"Is this all you have!?" the king shouted at the man. To which, the old man responded, "well king, go ahead and place that ring on your finger and read what it says." The king read the inscription on the ring and it said, "This too shall pass."

The old wise man counseled the king and said, "Whatever you're doing, wherever you're at, take a look at your ring and read that inscription out loud. Whether you're facing times of great adversity or great joy, you can remind yourself that this too shall pass." The king was satisfied with this message and he duly rewarded the man with great wealth.

Everything we go through, good and bad, will pass faster than we think. Treasure each moment.

Everything Shall Pass: Both Good And Bad

This story reminds us that whatever we're facing, whether it's the good (like getting your first patient) or bad (like having a hard time getting malpractice for your ketamine clinic), it too shall pass. If you fully embrace the meaning of that saying, you will begin to realize that everything, including our lives, are fleeting. Life consists of the ebb and flow of good and bad times, so why not treasure the moment? For it too shall pass.

Frustrated that your website is acting buggy, or that your colleagues are bad-mouthing you because you started a ketamine clinic…we’ve been there. Elated that your patient’s treatment resistant depression is essentially gone or that you had your first patient willing to fly across the country to see you even though there is a clinic in their town…we also experienced that. Experience what you’re experiencing fully, but don’t cling to those experiences as they leave as quickly as they came.

Life is fleeting, so are the everyday challenges that we have to face as ketamine clinic owners.

The Bottomline About Challenges You Face When Starting A Ketamine Clinic

So what are we getting at? Remember, the challenges you face are temporary. So don’t sweat it. Six months from now, you’ll be laughing about it. On the other hand, all the wonderful things that are happening are also temporary. Everything is temporary. So the key is to embrace it and be present.
